ORTHOPEDIC PHYSCAL THERAPY RESIDENCY GRADUATE

SB has worked in a variety of clinical settings and brings that breadth of experience to their practice at Alliance. Their background includes outpatient neurological rehabilitation, where they developed familiarity with state-of-the-art therapies including high-intensity gait training and even rock climbing! They have also worked in pediatric settings and appreciate that people who benefit from physical therapy as children may find themselves needing orthopedic care as adults, whether due to overuse injuries or accidents. 

SB completed a 14-month postgraduate orthopedic residency through the University of Maryland Medical System, where they received extensive mentorship from experienced orthopedic physical therapists and gained exposure to a broad spectrum of orthopedic injuries and surgical procedures. Their experience spans the continuum of care, from helping patients regain mobility in the hospital on the day of a joint replacement or spinal surgery to supporting their return to full function in the outpatient setting. They also worked with individuals recovering from complex orthopedic trauma in both acute care and outpatient settings. During their residency, SB gained additional experience in the emergency department, helping patients safely transition home. They also continued their passion for teaching by working with doctoral students at the University of Maryland, Baltimore's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. (Fun fact: SB previously taught high school science!)

SB also brings a strong sports background to their practice. They grew up playing a variety of sports, with their greatest experience in ice hockey. Whether your goal is to return to competitive athletics or simply get back to having fun on the rink, field, or court, SB is excited to help you get there.

Outside of Alliance, SB enjoys riding and fixing bikes and spending as much time outdoors as possible, whether hiking, rock climbing, or bird watching. They also enjoy spending time with their very large and handsome cat.
